Oscar-winning directors Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, known professionally as Daniels, will debut their cinematic follow-up to “Everything Everywhere All at Once” in 2026.
Universal Pictures, which recently signed an exclusive first-look deal with the filmmakers, added to its release calendar an “Untitled Event Film Directed by Daniels” on June 12, 2026. There is zero information — no title, genre, nor stars — available about the film.
The directing duo’s zany sci-fi-adventure-comedy “Everything Everywhere All at Once” was backed by A24 and became the first indie film since the pandemic to clear $100 million at the global box office. The movie stars Michelle Yeoh as a struggling laundromat owner who, while being audited by the IRS, discovers she has to connect with parallel universe versions of herself to prevent cataclysmic destruction. It won seven Oscars, including best picture.
Though “Everything Everywhere All At Once” catapulted them to the mainstream, Daniels and Wong have created a body of work that spans music, television and film. They first came to prominence by directing the viral music video for Lil Jon’s “Turn Down for What” and later won the Sundance Film Festival’s best directing award in 2016 for “Swiss Army Man,” starring Paul Dano and Daniel Radcliffe.
As they forged their pact with Universal, the studio’s chief Donna Langley praised the duo as creators who have “evolved their craft with a distinct vision and singular voice that is unmistakable.”
“Their films are remarkably theatrical and with only two original projects under their belts, they’ve merely scratched the surface of what they are capable of as filmmakers,” Langley said in 2022. “We’re grateful they’ve chosen to go on their journey with us.”
