Real Housewives of Atlanta’s Porsha Williams and her husband Simon Guobadia are going their separate ways.
The reality star filed for divorce from her husband of 15 months in Atlanta on Thursday, PEOPLE reports. The move comes amid a wave of rumors pertaining to the current status of Guobadia’s U.S. citizenship, however a source told the outlet that the cause for their split is an “ongoing matter” that is “unrelated to recent allegations involving Simon’s past.”
A rep for Williams did not immediately respond to EW’s request for comment.
Williams, 42, and Guobadia, 59, began dating in April 2021 and, less than a month later, announced that they had officially gotten engaged. The pair tied the knot twice in Atlanta back in November 2022 — first in a Nigerian traditional native law and custom ceremony, and then again in an American ceremony held the following day.
In an Instagram post announcing their engagement, Williams said that she and Guobadia were “crazy in love,” adding, “I know it’s fast but we are living life each day to its fullest. I choose happiness every morning and every night. Tuning out all negative energy and only focused on positive wishes. He makes me so happy and to me, that is what matters most.”
News of their divorce comes less than a month after Williams revealed that she will be returning for the upcoming 16th season of The Real Housewives of Atlanta. “Who said that? Porsha Williams coming back to Real Housewives of Atlanta,” she said in a social media clip, referencing one of her iconic moments from the series. “That’s false. But Porsha Guobadia is in the building. (*hair flip and cackle*) See y’all!”
